MOVIE REVIEW - Monsters Vs. Aliens

Dreamworks new animated fun fest, Monsters Vs. Aliens hits theaters this weekend. It's another wonderfully animated family movie that everyone in the family will get a kick out of.

To go along with the stunning animation, there are terrific voice performances by many of today's hottest stars. Reece Witherspoon (who is just terrific) , Seth Rogan (hilarious), Hugh Laurie, Paul Rudd and Keifer Sutherland. MVA....really really works!

MVA is the story of Susan (Witherspoon) who is getting married to Derek (Rudd). But on her wedding day she is hit by a meteorite that travels to earth from an exploding planet. As she's taking her wedding vows, she mutates and grows to a stunning size, say 100 feet tall, and is given great strength to boot. The Feds swoop in and take her away to be a part of a secret Federal project of stockpiling "monsters" as a secret military weapon. There she meets the other "monsters" who have been imprisoned for roughly 50 years waiting to be used in an emergency.

Enter the Aliens. They are coming to earth to take back the origin element that is their life blood. It's the same element that hit Susan, and she is housing the source. It is the secret of her gigantic size and strength. So they must get it back. So as they target her, they attack the earth. The Feds then unleash the Monsters to defend us against the Aliens.

MVA is just great in every way. Fantastic animation, performances, and a real nice story. The story is the star. Something for everyone. It's an easy to follow plot, and a real exciting story as well with some important messages for kids to see. Acceptance, team work, self confidence and self esteem. Plus it showcases a young woman, Susan with great grit, determination, and bravery. Nice role modeling here. It's fun, funny and really well put together. Dreamworks should be applauded for really hitting on all cylinders here. There's not one thing wrong with this movie. This is really a nice flick.

Great move too, there are two versions of this movie in the theaters now. One is the fantastic new 3-D, and the other is not. So you can decide which one you want to see and pay for. Nice move!

Monsters Vs. Aliens. Great for the family. Bravo!
