MOVIE REVIEW - Predators

It's been about 25 years or so, but here comes Predators, picking off where Predator left off in the mid 80's.

You may remember Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the jungle battle with the, "Predators" years ago. Now we flash forward to modern day. The worst predators on earth are whisked away somehow to a remote planet to be hunted in a "game preserve" with the "Predators." You may remember the immensely ugly creatures that have enormous strength, energy weapons, night vision, and an ability to adapt to the environment they are inhabiting.

Adrien Brody stars as the leader of the 8 killers chosen somehow, and the story is basically can they survive the horrible idea of being hunted pretty much for recreation. They are armed to the teeth with advances weapons, but will they be a match for the more advanced Predators.

The saving grace of this movie is that finally there is something new t the movies that's not Twilight or a cartoon. But sadlythis is nothing new at all. This is simply another kill or be killed movie, complete with lots of action and shooting. One by one our characters get picked off and who will survive? And will they get off the planet.

Original, it is not. And there's really nothing interesting or even remotely thought provoking about this flick. Basically it's the original on another planet. But it's been brought up to date to a degree for a 21st century audience. The effects are what you would expect. But a word of caution, if you're going to be blown away by special effects, think again. There's not a whole lot here that wasn't here 25 years ago.

Predators. Ho-hum, another sort of sequel, sort of remake and sort of entertaining movie. This is a miss.
